Mmm, food...Chain.

For my specialist study 2 i decided (like last time) i wanted to do something educational. This time straying away from morals and being FACTS of life.

I tried to think back about what i was taught in Primary and Secondary school and for some reason (i can't explain why) the idea of an animated food chain popped up. I remember reading my science hand-out in secondary and seeing a short 6 step food chain.

If i remember rightly it went something like ;

  • Sun
  • Plant (Producer)
  • Insect (Primary)
  • Lizard (Secondary)
  • Eagle or Hawk or something like that (Tertiary).
  • Fungi (Decomposer)
I remember finding something as huge as the way the world works (In terms of predators and prey) shrunk down into 6 images very interesting.

With this idea in mind i decided to do a quick round of research on different food chains. Below are the ones i found ;

The fact is there are many different variations of food chain out there, but they follow pretty much the same rules.

Producer - Herbivore - Carnavore - Omnivore - Detritivore.

This is pretty much the only rule i will need to stick to when doing my animation (as well as obviously making sure the animals i chose actually prey on each other).

IDEAS?

The original idea was ;

The plan was a simple Grass > Vole > Owl > Fungi <

The style i was going for really didn't seem to work with the animals i had chosen though so i went back to the drawing board.
